What personal data does this website collect and why

Sign up and contact forms

If you are filling out a form, you are doing so to share information with me, so that I will know who you are and can contact you. All information and images you send me will not be stored on the website, but will be forwarded to my e-mail address. This information is confidential and I will of course never share it with third parties.

Comments on pages or posts

If you leave a comment on the site, collects the data shown in the comment form, your IP address and your browser user agent to help detect spam.

How long we keep these data

When you leave a comment, that comment and the metadata of this comment will be stored indefinitely. This way follow-up comments can be recognized as legit and approved automatically, without having to moderate them again.

Your rights concerning your data

If you have completed a form or left a comment, you can request an export file of the personal data I hold about you. You can also ask me to delete your personal data. To my knowledge, no data is excluded that I should keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

With whom does share (meta)data

I try to limit the sharing of user data from this website to a minimum, but there are services that uses:

Spam detection

When a user posts a comment or fills a registration or contactform, the form data is first sent to Askimet, so they may distinguish genuine from fake messages. This way I prevent spam comments from being posted to the website or fake applications being sent to my email. See for more information on privacy and spam detection.


Gravatar is a service that you can use to use the same profile picture on different websites. If you leave a comment on this website, an anonymized hash will be calculated based on your e-mail address. If Gravatar recognizes this hash, and you therefore have a Gravatar profile picture, this profile pic will be shown with your response on this website. Website Analytics

To learn how this website is being used I currently use Google Analytics software. However, in order to prevent Google from using the data from my website for anything else than the analysis of the use of my website, I have signed a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Google and have set up that all data should be anonymised, that no data may be shared with Google(‘s other services) and may therefore not be used for advertising purposes.

Currently I don’t use website analytics software.


When you leave a comment on this site, you can indicate whether your name, e-mail address and website may be stored in a cookie (in the browser on your own computer). This is for your convenience, so that you do not have to enter this information again in a subsequent response. These cookies are stored for a year before they are cleared by your browser.
